Why Voting Matters

We googled the phrase “why voting matters” and found this interesting blog post:

According to International IDEA, the United States has almost the lowest voter turnout in the world, ranked a measly 140 out of 163. Perhaps Americans are apathetic, or maybe they’re just concerned their vote is meaningless in the face of America’s massive political machine. Can my vote really change the course of politics, or am I just a grain of sand on the massive beach of democracy?

We have the power to change this sad statistic next Tuesday, November 8th. We simply cannot afford to be apathetic about politics, especially when local politics affects our daily lives in a direct and very real way. We need strong leaders who can confidently make the hard decisions that will have implications for generations to come.

Your voice matters. Vote Tuesday, November 8th!

Council Picks a 15-Acre Proposal

I was pleased last night, to see the Council vote on the 15-acre development plan. The Council went with the Foster City Community Partners (FCCP) proposal to turn the 15-acre plot into a senior living center. I think this is the right move for Foster City, one that will provide affordable housing for seniors and open up possible retail opportunities to the entire community. This is only the first step in a long process, but I am glad our city’s leaders are pushing us forward. As planning continues, it will be critical to consider the most financially, environmentally and socially sustainable and responsible options for this development plan.

I believe that by working together, we can continue to make Foster City SHINE.
